Chromate conversions produce a clear chemical film on the surface of aluminium to facilitate electrical conductivity and to increase corrosion resistance. In addition to being a specified finish, chromate conversions are also suitable as a pre-treatment for painting and powder coating as well as offering excellent corrosion resistance. Chromate conversions have a clear finish.

OUTSTANDING FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Corrosion resistance

Chromate conversion coatings produce a film on the aluminium surface that resists corrosion, especially that which is caused by moisture.

  • Cost

Chromate conversion provides an economical base for paint and rubber adhesion, greatly enhancing a product’s ability to form a bond with the aluminium.  Because electrical conductivity is maintained, chromate conversion is often used in conjunction with anodising.

  • Electrical Conductivity

Chromate conversion allows an un-anodised surface to be used for an electrical contact. Commonly recognized by its proprietary trade names Surtec 650, Alodine® or Iridite®, chromate conversion coatings are some of the most widely used surface finishes for cast aluminium.

  • Diversity of substrates

Graph can work with nearly any wrought, heat-treatable or cast aluminium alloy to provide an aluminium chromate conversion coating as a final application or paint base for powder coating services.

  • Delicate and Difficult Geometries

Graph specialises in aluminium chromate conversion coatings on delicate parts using custom-engineered rack fixtures when required to ensure even the most delicate parts are handled properly.  Graph has a working R&D relationship with several tooling manufacturers.

  • RoHS and REACH Compliant

Graph is at the forefront of environmental compliance and can certify our aluminium chromate conversion coatings as needed to the current RoHS and REACH regulations. Hexavalent chromium free processes.  Graph use technologically advanced trivalent processes.
